2020, in a lot of ways, was a massive clusterfuck of a year. As it gradually progressed, we were more and more trapped inside. Concerts and festivals were understandably cancelled or indefinitely postponed and with only one proper concert under our collective belts, we here at Sounds from the Dark Side have seen better, more productive and overall happier times. The upside, as always, is the same: at least we still have music. And because staying at home provides with a lot more time to actually sit down and listen to albums, we’ve extended this year’s album lists with an extra ten entries each, giving you even more stuff to check out. Here we go.
As 2019 comes to a close, so does the decade, and that means everybody’s not only looking back at the past year but the past ten. Contrarian as we are, we’re not going to do that here and just concentrate on what 2019 brought us in music. Also because ten years seems like a lot of work. So here we go, here’s what we enjoyed most this year.
A big congratulations for Le Guess Who? is in place this year because for ten consecutive years the festival brings new and exciting music to Utrecht. Since a few years the Le Guess Who? festival also gives the city an international buzz and for this reason alone, can’t be missed by people like us. We chose Saturday the 12th of November to be our festival night and here is how we experienced it.
